2005 saw the birth and meteoric rise of WORLDLY as it became the largest showcase of clubland world music in the US, drawing upward of 1400 revelers and featuring the finest talent from around the planet.
The first WORLDLY of 2006 is set to eclipse last years highs with a convergence of many special factors; The CD release party for Karsh Kale’s much anticipated 3rd Album, Cheb I Sabbah’s patented blend of world rhythms alongside Dhol Champion Mitch Hyare, a diverse showcase of dance troupes; Boom Boom Bollywood, Dhol Rhythms, Belly Groove and Clandestine and of course rocking original beats and video from the Dhamaal Collective’s Janaka Selekta plus MC Samba, Maneesh the Twister, Skip Intro and El Diablo.
With 3 rooms of performances cradled in the thematically transformed 1015 Folsom, WORLDLY is bound to set the pace for 2006. Come early to catch the Shabaz Live Lounge which features Classical Indian and Pakistani folk music from artists representing a 500 year musical lineage; Ustad Sukhawat Ali Khan & Riffat Sultana. These one of kind live performance will be followed up by skilled DJ sets from DJ Dragonfly and Giamma.
The World Breaks Room feature world music crews from across the US and Canada.
